Read MoreFrom late May into early June this year, my brother and I in his Patrol and his mate Micky, Jimmy and Micky’s father in a Hilux embarked on a 4WD wild camping journey into the outback through Queensland, South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Read MoreUntil recently, I never understood the true impact that the traumas throughout my formative years could have had on the confident life I lead in the present. Here is a poem I wrote about a troubled but spurring moment.
Read MoreThere’s a lot to talk about but I’d rather just let these photographs be. I just returned from a two week outback Australia camping road trip and have ten rolls of colour film still in the fridge waiting to be developed.
Read MoreI’ve been working over the last month and a half improving the Android version of Frameable and building a new version for iOS via the App Store.

Read MoreWe photographers often fall into the trap of assigning ourselves the task of having to capture every trip in all its glory and not just experiencing it as simple human being first. That’s ultimately what the last year has been about for me. I love how 35mm Portra 160 looks anyway so I don’t think it’ll be much of a loss.

Now after some deliberation, I have finally made the jump to owning the Voigtländer 28mm F2 Ultron. Along with the 50mm F1.5 Nokton as well, and my tried and true 35mm F1.7 Ultron, I now have the trio of lenses perfect for all kinds of rangefinder-style work, from dynamic street scenes to quiet, focused portraits.
Read MoreAn interesting month! I had my opinion piece The Only Rule In Street Photography article republished to PetaPixel, resulting in some new traffic and Instagram followers along with a number of nasty words from folks around the globe down in the comments section. It was interesting to see everyone getting riled up over my thoughts on the topic. At first it made me doubt what I had written, but then I just ignored them. Problem solved.

I'm really happy with the first release and have already been planning to start an iOS version as soon as I'm ready, given the large audience who may find it useful as well as the fact that I use Instagram on my iPad too.
Read MoreI was able to meet Joe Greer, a photographer from Brooklyn, who was touring with Leon Bridges on his Australian tour. Joe had some downtime and dropped in for the first West End Camera Club meet up of the year. Along with Joe’s I made a number of Rolleiflex portraits and have been shooting a little more on it lately.

My goal of 2019 is very simple — put people and experiences first, and leave the camera at home as much as possible. I’m having a well earned rest from creative ambition. Needless to say that I’m still actually making photographs.
Read MoreI’ve been to the beach a lot. Most weekends, unlike previous years. Summer is again a quiet season in my photography. I just want to enjoy the bright, warm days with people, free of pressure to make photographs, which means occasional urban landscape and still life photography.
Read MoreRacquet Film in New Farm threw an awesome 10,000 rolls re-launch exhibition party. It was a great opportunity for everyone to meet each other from around Brisbane. Scroll down a bit for those pictures.
Read MoreWell, I had a 31st birthday so that was cool. I’m now really a full adult (scary, hey). I’ve also been shooting a bunch, and in the future you’ll see that I’ve started going to be beach because Summer is (almost) here.
