Rivers

Eddies swirl like a dance,
Floating on a river churning,
Vanishing like a dust devil.

White foam tumbles and crashes,
Bursting forth over hard stone,
Diminishing like thunder across a sky.

Turmoil rages in a heart pained,
A red light beaming in a dark room,
Extinguishing at a moment’s notice.

Radiant light bursts upon a face,
Lighting smiles across great distance,
A visual embrace slowing time.

Shaped waves radiate on cool air,
Phonemes spark through two minds,
Bridging rivers of stardust’s kind.

Blades sway in a sea of green,
Elaborate patterns of black scurrying,
Markets scatter to bring forest quiet.

Water courses through carved valleys,
From lofty tarn of height’s potential,
Earthen dust drawn across a continent.

Life tumbles and churns,
A river rapid and a lake placid,
To a sea of earth and stars.

In times of turmoil I seek a lake,
And ride a rapid for joy’s sake,
Life has become a river.
